The Banks

There are currently eight functional banks around Bukavu - 240 women total. The team visited three banks in Bukavu - Umoja (where they promised to purchase school books for the children), Tuwalee II and Celpa. There are currently two loan officers besides Isaac, the Executive Director for CAV RDC. CAV representatives were encouraged to see the progress that has been made by these women since their last visit.

The Needs:

    There is very high demands for more banks in South Kivu, particularly in rural areas where few aid agencies have gotten involved. There are currently seven banks requesting funds, five of which are located in rural areas.
